Reconnect Our Roots With The Sattvic Lifestyle

Sattvic diets are composed of light and healthy foods. In Ayurvedic, sattvic foods are thought to increase energy, happiness, calmness, and mental clarity. This means eating vegetarian, nutritious, fresh, and tasty foods. According to Ayurveda, Sattvic foods are necessary to continue the balance of a stable mind and healthy body. The sattvic diet is sound and comprises all the essential ingredients. It has options for dairy, fruits, and vegetables that should be free from any chemicals while production. The one who chooses the Sattvic diet experiences the maximum energy with positive thoughts. [1]
As per traditional yoga teachings, food is categorized into three categories: sattva, rajas, and tamas. These are referred to as gunas, representing the three qualities found in all things, including food.

Sattva
Fresh fruits and vegetables, sprouts, honey, ghee, nuts, grains, pulses, lentils, ginger, jaggery, unrefined sugar, turmeric, black pepper, dhania, fresh herbs, milk, and dairy products are all part of the Sattvic diet. As a result, they are both physically and mentally fit. Satvik food calms the mind and strengthens the immune system.

Sattva

Rajas
The Rajasic diet consists of flavorful foods made with spices, onion, garlic, coffee, tea, sugar, deep-fried foods, instant energy-giving foods, or fast foods. These foods gradually harm the digestive system, causing bloating and indigestion. Rajasic cuisine is flavourful, spicy, and hot. For the time being, this type of food provides instant energy – lowers our energy level, and causes stress, dullness, and anger.

Tamas
Processed foods, meat, eggs, deep-frozen food, reheated food, alcohol, stale foods, and so on are all part of the Tamasic diet. This type of food causes drowsiness, dullness, unproductivity, carelessness, and incompetence.
Many experts recommend listening to your body and eating the nutrition it requires, so this may look different for different people depending on how strictly you adhere to it.

Tamas

When you follow a “yoga diet,” also known as a yogic diet, you eat more sattvic foods. Many believe a yogic diet should contain foods that are not harmful to yourself or other living creatures. Many people who follow a yogic diet will choose to be vegetarian or vegan by this principle.

What is Sattvic food?
Sattvic foods are ripe, raw, lightly cooked, and freshly prepared. Old or poorly prepared foods are not sattvic – they are high in nutrients and low in processed and fried foods. It offers the same benefits as a typical healthy vegetarian diet, including lower risks of chronic diseases such as Heart, Cancer, and Diabetes.
Sattvic food is very natural because it is made up of only fresh and medicinal ingredients. The diet is so natural that you don’t feel heavy or sluggish after eating it and it leaves you feeling peaceful. Eating Sattvic food will improve your health, nutrition, and digestion.

Benefits of the Sattvic Diet
The Sattvic diet does not have to be followed exclusively by yoga practitioners or spiritual people. The Sattvic diet is essential for achieving physical and mental balance. These are the top three benefits of eating a Sattvic diet.
1. Improves the Immune System and Acts As An Immune Booster
The Sattvic diet is highly nutritious, with raw vegetables and fruits in the form of salads accounting for 40% of the diet. Natural fresh foods contain all the nutrients, dietary fiber, antioxidants, proteins, minerals, and monounsaturated fats the body requires. Following this diet regularly will boost your immunity and allow you to have a healthier immune system.
2. Promotes Weight Loss
Sattvic foods, such as a fresh salad made from seasonal vegetables and fruits, lentils, and sprouts, can help us lose weight. These foods are low in carbs and calories but high in protein, vitamins, and minerals. Sattvic food is high in fiber, which aids in calorie reduction. It gives you a stuffed feeling, which keeps you from snacking before your next meal. Slow chewing has been shown to reduce fat absorption and boost metabolism.
3. Prevent Chronic Diseases
A low-fat, high-fiber diet lowers the risk of certain chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension, and heart disease, and it also aids in the fight against the Coronavirus.
In the long run, a slight diet change can significantly impact. Sattvic diets are high in fiber, nutrients, and antioxidants, which help to prevent chronic diseases. A sattvic diet excludes fried foods, processed foods, canned foods, and so on. This helps to keep cholesterol under control and prevents heart disease. Diabetes and certain cancers are also avoided because sattvic food makes our stomachs happy by allowing for easy digestion and absorption. Eating nuts raises your body’s good cholesterol or monounsaturated fats, which help keep your blood pressure under control. These foods also help to keep stomach ulcers at bay.
